re: Doers, Keepers (Colorado General Assembly Bill Proposal)
Ladies and Gentlemen of the General Assembly,
I believe many of you have seen (and read) the first press release sent out on December 9th regarding developments all of you (and your voters) should find concerning, developments stemming from a bit of stonewalling by both Secretary Griswold’s office and a former chair of the Unity Party of Colorado (not myself).
I’m writing to suggest that you good people join me in taking the proper actions to correct this situation.
In brief, possibly due to the 2020 re-establishment of Texas as my home base (in light of the fact that my running mate Eric Bodenstab was [as he still is] a resident of Colorado, the 12th Amendment to the US Constitution required me, as the first ballot-qualified Unity Party candidate for US President, to transfer my residency to the state of my rearing [if not my birth; but more about that later]), the Unity Party of Colorado, the first Qualified Political Organization (and later Minor Party) in history to be recognized by the State of Colorado thanks to candidate petitions (mine, and mine alone), has lost its way and, one might say, is dead in the water.
To elaborate: Judge Tijani “TJ” Cole, whom I reached out to in 2023 to replace the criminally insane Eric “Bless His Heart” Bodenstab as Chair of the Unity Party of Colorado (feel free to review all evidence and correspondence with the Austin Police Department re: Mr. Bodenstab at ericforallofus.com), has taken it upon himself to ignore me, the national chair of the Unity Party of America and founder of both the UPA and the UPC) for the last two-and-a-half years, even going so far as to illegally allow unityparty.us (a website I registered decades ago and have yet to be compensated for) to indicate the so-called “American Unity Party” as the new national affiliate of the Unity Party of Colorado. Folks, the UPC bylaws that clearly state in Article I, Section A that the UPC shall be the affiliate of the Unity Party of America, were written by myself in 2017, have remained materially unmodified since then, and were very recently confirmed as still in force by Secretary Griswold’s office. Those same bylaws require a two-thirds vote by party delegates at an official meeting to be changed, and, per the same SoS office, a meeting to change the national affiliation never took place. If one reads Judge Cole’s bio, it’s disturbing that he failed to act as the sorely-needed adult in the Unity Party of Colorado room in my absence, never mind the competent jurist.
Of course, if you ask him, Judge Cole might try to counter with the argument that I am not the Chair of the Unity Party of America. Again, here we have an opportunity to see Cole’s true character (I dare say “character” is what you do when you think no one cares). My research has informed me that federal judges are ethically bound to refrain from freelancing as judges, arbiters, etc. outside of their official capacities, and logic would indicate that this common sense, this argument against abuse of the respect and deference accorded someone who’s worn the black robes, should be applied to all those who’ve sat on the bench.
Shortly before I reached out to Judge Cole about taking over the Colorado organization, I led the successful effort to remove Jim Wiest and Eric Bodenstab from their respective party officer positions at the national level. To this day, Mr. Wiest apparently (and, if true, sadly) remains convinced that he’s the national chair of the Unity Party (I have a folder in my Gmail account, reserved for future German prosecutors, just for his incoming emails, and he just sent out the first missive in perhaps years, apparently reminded of his delusion by recent chatter).
Judge Cole, out of whatever personal motivations, has taken actions that have only widened the gulfs between reality and their own unreality in the minds of Messrs. Bodenstab and Wiest. When Cole was successfully voted in as state chair in 2023, he claimed to have started a thorough investigation into the ouster of these two gentlemen:
I made myself freely available for questioning, but was never questioned
Alex Darlington, the duly-elected new national chair, agreed to sit with Messrs. Bodenstab and Cole for an ostensible attempt at reconciliation, but this turned out to be merely one long string of profanities on the part of Mr. Bodenstab (including, according to Mr. Darlington, the utterance of the words “tough t****” by Mr. Bodenstab, a married father of two children); according to the same witness, Judge Cole merely sat by silently, watching
Finally, Judge Cole, on his own initiative, as self-appointed judge, jury and executioner, with no attempt at a vote, no attempt at true reconciliation, no attempt to address the concerns virtually every Uniter would have or would come to have about Mr. Wiest’s profane attempts at his own perverted vision of “leadership,” then sent out an email naming Mr. Wiest as the national chair, almost as if he was deliberately trying to kill the party
Readers, that last bullet point leads to me this concluding point: out of whatever ongoing personal motivations (revenge for all the truths that have been told by yours truly the last few years?), Cole is trying to maintain the Weekend at Bernie’s party that he molded out of a fully-functioning early Twenties start-up. He failed to hold a required party meeting before all state party offices expired on D-Day back in June, he showed up 20 minutes late to a supposed attempt at a meeting later that month, (before citing a fictional quorum requirement and adjourning said attempt), and the hijacked/listless unityparty.us hasn’t been updated since.
However, I have a solution (which apparently I’ll need your assistance to implement): the passage, ASAP, of a “Doers, Keepers” bill, of legislation that enshrines the principle, currently facing mortal threats by the unprincipled, that legitimate actions to fill vacant Colorado party offices should be respected.
As I explained to Mr. Thornton in response to his less-than-helpful email (please see the images of said correspondence included in Tuesday’s press release), the SoS is in danger of establishing the precedent that any former party officer in Colorado, that of the majors included, can hold on to power merely by ramming a wrench into the transmission and ultimately objecting to the rightful replacement.
Obviously this has a familiar ring, and will no doubt spring up as an issue again with all of the copycat outfits that bloomed in the wake of my establishment of the Unity Party of Colorado through my successful candidate petitions of 2008 (Congress) and 2014 (US Senate). If I’m a fixer, you could say I have to fix this only because I broke it in the first place, but we’re here regardless of how we got here, right? (And besides, I’d like to think of myself as more in the spirit of Roy Cohn versus Michael Cohen, if more of a straight-shooter than either one of them.)
Finally, Governor, apologies for the public reach-out, but you of course have ghosted me since I suggested the 25th in the wake of J6 (which of course turned out to be the very thing that some in the White House were suggesting at that time). Eric is not well, his public image being incredibly far from the truth (apparently now even someone like Cole doesn’t want to have anything to do with him, so hard did I hit Mr. Bodenstab back in 2024), and you could go far in affirming the wishes of Colorado voters by issuing an executive order insisting on an immediate remedy of this quandary, this injustice bordering on inhumanity.
Sincerely,
Bill Hammons
